Frequently asked questions
Should I clean my ears with cotton buds?
No. Cotton buds push wax deeper and can injure the ear canal. Ears usually clean themselves. If your ears feel blocked, see an ENT doctor for safe wax removal.
Does sinusitis always need surgery?
No. Most sinus problems improve with medicines, nasal sprays and treating allergies. Surgery is considered only for chronic sinusitis that does not respond, or for a blockage such as a deviated septum or polyps.
When are tonsils removed?
Tonsil surgery is usually advised when tonsillitis keeps coming back several times a year, when enlarged tonsils cause breathing or sleep problems, or after a tonsil abscess. Your ENT doctor will advise whether it is needed.
Is sudden hearing loss an emergency?
Yes. Sudden hearing loss in one ear should be seen by an ENT doctor as soon as possible, because treatment works best when started within the first few days.
Do you treat children?
Yes. We treat children for ear infections, tonsils, adenoids, snoring and blocked noses, and work with our paediatricians when needed.
Is ENT available at Shadnagar?
ENT consultations are at our Medchal branch. Urgent problems such as nose bleeds or breathing difficulty can be seen 24×7 at either branch's emergency department.
